| The Act for Resource Recycling of Electrical and Electric Equipment and Vehicles was adopted into law on April 2, 2007 by the National Assembly of Korea. The act contains five major requirements for producers and importers which include, restrictions on the use of hazardous substances, improvement of materials and structures in products so that they are easy to recycle, separate collection of waste products at no cost to the person disposing of them, a set recycling rate, and a recycling information network. However, the Act only provides the framework for procedures and responsibilities and the specifics are still to be decided by the Ministry of Environment. |
